SUCCESS!!!!! (Review of Digital Prototype)

Finally we got to present our game with all the elements created to make the experience possible, the name which we did pick very last minute was “Anti-Virus”. It was a simple name and it made the concept easier to understand.

We made loads of different markups for each time we all added input to the final thing. The one thing and trouble we found was using Unity Collab, which wasn’t working and wanted the opt us into using something called Plastic SCM, so we decided to not you and layer the job, like a cake

One person would hold a Master copy of the game and then when we made add on, we would send that back to that one person and then they would update the Master copy, seemed like a good option and you can see how many renditions we went through to get it just right.

When presenting it through MS Teams to the whole room, it did have it’s fair share of problems but still got our prototype live. Dan and I presented it whilst Pratik played the game to share on the screen. We explained with the theme of Personal Hygiene that the player is a White Blood cell and as White Blood Cells do, they protect us from illnesses, diseases and viruses. Essentially it’s the bodyguard of our immune system, thank you basic biology.

But even with this alonside all the elements added together, with the code, the UI, the Sound Design, Textures and Map Design, the whole game can be expanded upon in many different ways, including more levels, different map designs, different sections so there was many ways to expand on whole experience, but turned out to be a total success.

The one thing that was added last minute to the game was the dash system allowing the player to move a little further in which ever direction they chose, which I imagine is because of the movement. It didn’t hinder the overall control or “flow” of the player traversing around the map as there were some initial problems with the movement, but thanks to dashes it helped the experience.

Additionally the player only can use 3 Dashes either all at once or whenever the player presses the button and only have a maximum of 3

Our Feedback after presentation:

“Good Job, well done” Thanks Jarek

The general feedback from first presentation was just simple “Good Job” and nothing else was said…. I mean nothing negative so at least that’s something right. Once everyone’s presentation was done, our egos were further boosted once Jarek said his favourite was our one, mainly because of the coding, but still, helped my design ego at least so all is good.

The Final product

My reflective Feedback

With our game, I actually couldn’t be any more happier with how it turned out, the design was something that both me and Dan collectively had the same idea about and the theme so it was easy to move forward with the team effort. My only problem which is a personal one is to be more invested the coding side of the game, where I have tried my own attempts at learning, but I always feel fairly stagnant into learning it. I can read, but can’t write. I wish I took the opportunity to delve deeper into that side, using Visual scripting which I’ve heard helps a lot of other people that aren’t so talented in that side of the development either. But that’s what I will take from it and actually apply myself that way whether it be working in a team or by myself.
