The Idea

During the module we had to create a linear narrative based game that takes it’s inspiration from piece of current accessible media, meaning books, movies, just any franchise really, but the twist being that it has to not have a game currently made about it.

I voted to look into short stories, The Monkey Paw ( and develop into a game. The novel itself revolves around the main character making wishes to which translated into a game -sense would make me think about a branching narrative game, although I knew it wasn’t supposed to be expansive. The idea could change as followed a series of easy to understand references and with all endings ending in a sad way as restricted by the idea of The Monkey Paw. If unfamiliar, when someone makes wish with the Monkey Paw, one finger on the paw will go down, even though your wish was granted, it often provides this wish with some type of unfortunate circumstance.
