Time to Brainstorm pt.3 (Team-Talk Game Design Project)

The last lecture of the year came to a close and we finally had to summerise our ideas to our lecturers/supervisors and it was quite emotional, but they have been great throughout the entire year and loads of lessons were learned through them, but we told our basic mechanics and there didn’t seem big reaction, which to me sounds like good news at least as I was initially worried as to the idea, but it was all good.

We did mention it being inside the brain and it being uncertain if that’s the direction we wanted to take it in, but it will be decided later on, which is why another LONG MEETING was done straight after.

We have already considered one game that created a masterpiece of puzzle design which is Portal and we are using that as our main inspiration for this, at least as a benchmark for some of our design choices

So after that we had a long team meeting and we broke down what we had to do for the basic starts of our project

  • Start implementation of basic mechanics - the reason we want it to work in the prototype already is to make sure we can physically implement it into the design and work from there. I WANT THIS TO WORK

  • Start creating flows for Levels - essentially start creating level designs for our work as it is a Puzzle game, I feel it’s very important that the interactions of these levels will define the experience and should include the flow of how our user will interact with our game, well at least the first level wil floor plans too.

  • Start creating the narrative - because of our incertainty with the world we are building, it’s also important that this element is tackled as well so then everything else can be intrinsically connected which can develop to into a lot of elements, such as the world’s setting, our final level designs and the overall feel of the game.

With these important factors, it was quite easy to delegate who will do what. Again with some of the coding, I’m taking a backseat as I know some aspects I’ll be unable to make, however that’s only for now as I will be focusin on the LEVEL DESIGN.

But in good news, I think we’ve come up with a working title: Current

It’s basic. It’s relevant. It’s abstract and that way it’s perfect relating to a manner of different things

Now I know my task, we shall have another meeting next week to go over the progress we have done during the week
