Presentation FINALE
So it was time to show off what we have been working on for the past month and well… at least I thought it was okay, it was plausible. My method of thinking for our presentation was the show the interaction of the game being our main concept…… I mean at least show how the game could work is the better way to put it.
Because we were trying to make an ambitious design for a game, making the game wasn’t split for me, but at least I understood what had to be done.
The Title
Our game is called Current and we still currently don’t have a logo for the game. I’ll let that bad dad joke stay there for a while, but there is a really interesting reason why I chose this name. As our game is set in a post-apocalyptic future based in a cyberpunk world and mankind has regressed back to being primitive and nature is overflowing, well at least somewhat, the name Current makes a lot of sense.
Our character can control electrical currents and the world is set in the future but looks like the past, so adding a time concept seemed appropriate.
The Presentation
The result were again farily positive, the presenation was aesthically pleasing, it has some great ways around it, explaining the game design seemed to work even though Jarek did mention is was a lot of graphs and the rest of the ideas were all good.
Now the bad points. well there weren’t so many bad points, it was mainly to do with the narrative, even if the world was explained well, the problem was giving a starting point for our player….. we never really mentioned that which ultimately makes sense why Hope had some confusion as to why certain things were the way they are. We did answer the question to which she then wasn’t confused anymore, but the problem was it wasn’t in the presentation and that’s what could have cost us funding, if this was an actual pitch.
My reflection
Personally, I did my part well, however I did fumbled with some of the words I wanted to use… I should’ve just written the key words on my hand of something, but generally it went very well, but I could see problems with it afterwards, as we were supposed to sell the concept, which with some ideas we did, but it wasn’t entirely the convincing part.
The way I can put it, is that the presentation was presented as a GDD and for once, it didn’t incoporate my signiture personality to it and that where I went wrong in leading the team for this presentation. But ultimately if I was to pitch this to clients, I have to remember to have fun with it and also add more description to make it sound like something new to people, not to designers. I aimed the presentation for designers and not people.
Now for the finale, the final submission gathering all the artefacts with the team.
